Old Black Rocking Chair contains nearly 150 poems and recollections from Violetta Peters of Elizabethtown, Kentucky. The poems are about all aspects of life and are written to offer help and encouragement to people young and old alike…words to help in times of trouble, and inspiration for everyone to find peace. Along with the poems is a story through which Violetta recalls the joy of her childhood spent with her loving mother Ollie Mae, father Hilary, and brothers and sisters. Folks from all walks of life will come to appreciate the simple truths shared through her sincere and thoughtful words.
Violetta Peters grew up in Cecilia, Kentucky, in the small community of Howevalley, one of eight children. Her dad owned and operated a small business doing land field and bulldozer work and was also a farmer. She has worked in a factory for 28 years and the last 20 years she has dreamed of being a writer. She has one son, Jeremy Chad Meredith, and one grandson, Jeremy Gage Meredith, and says "my love for my son was the beginning of this journey through my childhood." She lives in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
Proceeds from the sale of this book will also help other communities and organizations preserve their history through Our American Heritage Project, a non-profit organization.
