Attn: All Members of the USMC Weather Service—USMC Weather Service is pleased to announce that work is underway on a new book to document the history and role of Marine Corps Weather Specialists and the role of military meteorology in deployments, operations, and training, both yesterday and today.
In addition to a detailed history of the USMC Weather Service and METOC, this exciting book will feature a special section showcasing biographies of USMC Weather Service members with “then and now” photographs, and YOU are invited to be included (see sample biography inside). There will be no cost to have your 200-word biography included!
Our book will feature veterans from all eras, from World War II, to the jungles of Southeast Asia, Iraq and Afghanistan, and Marines who are still on active duty. Note: all former Marines are encouraged to participate, even those who were active in peacetime — all served with honor and distinction.
The book will also include special after action reports, stories and photographs from the membership.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
Submit your personal biography. Biographies are brief vignettes (up to 200 words) detailing the person’s military career and life after the military (see example inside brochure link below) , and also may include up to two (2) photographs of each individual, one from the service along with a current picture. You may also submit historic photos and general interest stories of up to 1,000 words for the editor’s review. When sending photos, please include your name, address and a caption on the back.
This unique book will give us the opportunity to record our rich heritage, inspiring and educating future generations in love of Corps and country! Please send us your information so this book may be as complete as possible. IT IS FREE TO BE INCLUDED!
Widows, friends and family members are also encouraged to send in biographical portraits and materials for their loved ones now passed on—a perfect tribute to your veteran’s service to our nation.
This will be a limited edition printing and only those who order now, before it goes to press, will be assured of receiving a copy. Please take advantage of this special opportunity and help us document the rich legacy of the USMC Weather Service.
