Ron Guilmette

Ron Guilmette was born and raised in Lawrence, Massachusetts. He started renting kayaks for 25 cents an hour on the Shawsheen River in Andover, Massachusetts when he was ten years old. He is married and has four children and six grandchildren. Ron has done extensive ocean kayaking with his good friend Red McDonald to the Isle of Shoals off the coast of New Hampshire and in Bar Harbor, Maine. He also kayaked, with a guide, through the 10,000 islands in the Everglades National Park in Florida. In 2014, Ron and his nephew, Jay Leccese, kayaked to all 260 islands on Lake Winnipesaukee and published the award winning coffee table book, The Islands of Winnipesaukee. Due to its success, he published The Islands of Squam Lake in 2019, which features his kayak adventures to its 30-plus islands.  He continues to ocean kayak with his children off of Salisbury Beach, Massachusetts where he has lived for the past 41 years. Ron is a retired state trooper and works as a criminology professor at a local university and at a private college. He also works as a private consultant in the law enforcement community and serves as a volunteer on a number boards and committees. He enjoys white water rafting and golf and most of all beach days with his wife, children and grandchildren.
