Willie – Radio’s Great American

The Story of Bill Cunningham

Retail Price: $24.95

Since 1983, Bill “Willie” Cunningham, the acclaimed “Voice of the Common Man,” has lightened up the airwaves of 700 WLW with many national and local politicians, cultural leaders, authors, spin doctors and other miscreants resulting in the most listened to radio personality in the Cincinnati metro area. If it’s news, if average, hard-working, God-fearing, Americans hear it, see it or read about it; it will be on the Bill Cunningham Show.

Bill is an attorney, business entrepreneur, former Ohio Assistant Attorney General; he also was selected in 1983, as Ohio’s Outstanding Young Lawyer by the Ohio State Bar Association.  In high school, he led the City of Cincinnati in boys basketball, scoring First Team All City and was picked by the Cincinnati Enquirer as one of the Top 100 High School players of all time. Thereafter, he captained the Xavier University Baseball Team and married the Honorable Penelope H. Cunningham (Judge in the Ohio Court of Appeals).

Normal Americans listen live, down-load it at night, and then each day discuss the essence of his arguments and his flair for the dramatic. Having already received every award the radio industry can bestow, including two (2) Marconi Awards as “America¹s Big Market Radio Personality of the Year,” Bill Cunningham, called “The Conscience of America” remembers yesterday, embraces today, and yearns for a better tomorrow on his daily show. Read Willie: Radio’s Great American and learn about the life of Bill Cunningham – both on air and off.

“People think they know Bill Cunningham from Cincinnati’s 700 WLW. As is normally the case, this is only part of the story of radio’s ‘Great American.’ Successful radio personalities have depth of knowledge and a keen understanding of an audience. Willie¹s life experience gives him the foundation for his success. Cunningham has twice been honored with a Marconi Award from the National Association of Broadcasters, the most coveted peer recognition in the radio industry. But, as Willie has been known to say, ‘I’m not sure if you know this, but half the people hate me!’ After reading the story of the real Bill Cunningham, chances are you’ll start to like him much more. Bill Cunningham is heard weekdays from Noon – 3:00 P.M. on 700 WLW in Cincinnati, and Sunday nights on the premiere radio networks.”

-Darryl Parks, Program Director 700 WLW

“I have known Bill Cunningham many years, having first met in Atlanta as we both worked in talk radio – we have been buddies ever since and have only grown closer as the years roll by. Yes, it’s true, I did borrow from Bill, ‘You’re a Great American.’ And, he does ask me about the royalties every time I see him.”
