Freddie L. Butler Jr. served in the United States Marines for four years before pursuing a career in law enforcement, first as a municipal police officer, then as a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, retiring in 1996. He is current a full-time deputy sheriff in his 38th years as a public servant in law enforcement. He and his wife, Sandra, have two sons, Jason and Jonathan.
