Illinois Historic Farms, Volume II

In commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Illinois Centennial Farm program, the Illinois Department of Agriculture is pleased to announce a new book in production, Illinois Historic Farms, Volume II, a new and expanded volume that includes updated historical content through 2024.  

The family farm is the very root of agriculture and its proud heritage, and generational families that have maintained a farm for 100 years or more deserve special recognition for maintaining this special way of life.

In addition to comprehensive history of the Illinois Centennial Farm program, this book features a special section showcasing hundreds of Illinois award-winning farms. The book also includes the history of agriculture in Illinois by region, an overview of how technology has evolved throughout the state, a complete roster of all Illinois Heritage Farm awardees, and much more!

All Illinois farming families who have been recognized for their Centennial, Sesquicentennial, and Bicentennial farms are encouraged to send in their farm biographies for inclusion, and families who participated in Illinois Historic Farms, Volume I are invited to submit updated information on your family farm.
