Although the Massachusetts State Police is known as the Nation’s oldest state police agency, established in 1865, the development of the automobile led to the increased need for a uniformed force to patrol the state’s roadways and rural areas. This book celebrates the centennial anniversary of the Massachusetts State Police Patrol from 1921-2021, and the first training class that graduated on November 18, 1921. A comprehensive history, biographical narratives of the officers of the first graduating class, and more than 150 photographs honor these men and the beginnings of such a proud organization.
