Lewis Newman  is a self-taught artist living in McDowell, Kentucky. He has been interested in art, especially painting, since he was five years old. He does works in watercolors, acrylics, pastels and oils. He also enjoys working with graphite pencils. His home is filled with beautiful works of art, and he sells many of his art pieces at festivals in his county and surrounding counties, at art shows and exhibits and, of course, to his family and friends. He is blessed with a special and very creative artistic talent and he is happy to share it with others.


Proceeds from the sale of this book will also help other communities and organizations preserve their history through Our American Heritage Project, a non-profit organization.

Linda J. Elliott  Linda Joyce Thornsberry Elliott is the author and illustrator of several books, including Pumpkin’s Pilgrimage, Fun In The Park, The High-Back Forty, Who’s Going To Tie Your Shoes?, Billy Bob’s Bean Patch, and Among The Elbows. She is also author of Behold Easter, which features photography by her husband Willie. She is a graduate of Alice Lloyd College in Knott County, Kentucky, and of Berea College in Madison County, Kentucky. She taught kindergarten and first grade for 27 years.
