Reflections of Illinois is a comprehensive collection of the pen, ink and watercolor drawings by noted artist John B. Stoeckley. Spurred on by requests from many who collect John’s work, this book brings his artistic interpretation of Illinois landmarks, institutions of higher learning, and places of interest into one collection for the enjoyment of many.

This book follows his immensely popular book, Reflections of Missouri, publishing in 2012. These images bring smiles to the faces of many who have either grown up in Illinois or have been schooled there. The many historical images reflect John’s love of the state’s varied and interesting history.

John located to Illinois directly from his college days at Indiana University, and lived there for many years until his relocation to neighboring Missouri. Each year he exhibits and sells his work at various art shows through the Midwest, with many of those shows in Illinois. Just ask him about Route 66 or Abraham Lincoln, or the Palm Café, and he recites his enthusiasm for Illinois and its unique landmarks.

John’s artistic talent is reflected in each and every drawing and is a credit to each site he captures in his work. This collection has evolved over the last 20 plus years that John has spent as a full-time professional artist. Not only does it reflect the history of Illinois, but becomes a commentary for each of the images as a somewhat travel log for the reader. And for those that are nostalgic, this book relives those days gone by, weaving a rich tapestry of faded memories. Remember that awaited yearly vacation trip in the station wagon with mom and dad, traveling up and down the Lincoln State?

The book is divided into four regions of the state. The regions are Chicago and Beyond, Land of Lincoln, Trails to Adventure, and Great Rivers Country.

Proceeds from the sale of this book will also help other communities and organizations preserve their history through Our American Heritage Project, a non-profit organization.
