Still America’s Finest

Since the 1970s, the San Diego Police Department has used “America’s Finest” as its official motto, so named because it protects “America’s Finest City,” but also because it continues to represent the best in city law enforcement nationwide.

Still America’s Finest follows the history of San Diego law enforcement from the 1850s through modern times, presenting major cases and historic events spanning 175 years, and the continuing evolution of service and protection in California’s second largest city. This book presents not only the notable crimes of San Diego’s history, but also the historic officers and leaders who have brought criminals to justice and kept the city safe through the years, with hundreds of rare, historic photographs.
